In a city that’s overloaded with ersatz Irish pubs, newcomers to the genre generally elicit eye rolls. So you’d be forgiven for lumping the Haven in with that lot. But the new Jamaica Plain spot is neither phony nor, in fact, Irish; it’s Boston’s only Scottish restaurant, opened by Jason Waddleton, a native of coastal Stonehaven, Scotland.

Your twenty pounds is in the post!!!
What a great resource!
we came as a group of 5 last night to celebrate our friend peter buchanan’s birthday – and our scottish heritage!
we had haggis for the very first time and found out, much to our pleasant surprise that it was delicious!!!…we were eager to try everything on the menu, so we ordered family style to share with the table.
for apps we shared the tomato bridie, smoked salmon plate, and haggis and neeps…for entrees we shared the beef and ale pie, chicken tikka masala, fish and chips, and a side of stilton mashed potatoes…yay minted mushy peas!!!
we shared dessert of fried mars bar, raspberry drambuie tart, and bread pudding.
all the food was absolutely wonderful – masterfully prepared and flavorful – so delicious!
YUM YUM YUM!!!
the beer selection was lovely, the waitstaff was wonderful, the owner an absolute sweetheart, and the joint was jumpin’ – for a very good reason: THE HAVEN ROCKS!!!
