A glorious night of new whisky from the acclaimed Islay distillery Bruichladdich. Taste all three Octomore 12 series release and Black Art.
This superlative Bruichladdich line up offers a chance to taste all three Octomore releases in one sitting as well as the sumptuous Black Art.
This is strictly limited to just 16 guests. Snacks provided. Chat encouraged and vibes guaranteed. We are joined by brand ambassador Jason Cousins along with Haven owner Jason Waddleton.
The Octomore 12 line up in general is five years old, heavily peated and bottled at cask strength. As with previous editions, the 12.1 acts as the base or control of the experimental range.
12.2 offers what’s described by the brand as an alternative maturation to its .1 counterpart, this time in a sublimely balanced ex-Sauternes cask profile.
12.3 explores Islay grown barley and the terroir of the distiller’s home-grown grain combined with sherry maturation for the first time in history.
Black Art is an ongoing series of limited-edition releases from Bruichladdich—that much we know. Beyond that, and the ages of the whiskies, we don’t know a whole lot. And that’s how its master distillers (Jim McEwan, who was succeeded by Adam Hannett) want it. Nothing is revealed of how these whiskies were matured or in what kind of casks they were finished. What matters, they say, is how they taste. And this eighth edition of Black Art tastes delicious.
Haven owner had this to say of the night.
“This is taking Dram night to a different level and we are excited to get the series going again. Jason Cousins is joining us for the launch of this impeccable and hard to find spirit. The Rolls Royce of peated whisky without doubt – exquisite”
