We managed to get our hands on this tasty offering from Innis and Gunn, a Stout matured in Irish Whiskey cask wood. Seems like yesterday that we were selling Innis and Gunn as a revolutionary style with their maturing in oak casks (well sort of). But this one is worth checking out. A velvety mouth feel with lots of treacle and chocolate notes. Had nothing to do with the Jacob’s Chocolate Orange I’d just devoured! At a lovely 7.4% ABV it is a lovely beer to share with your better half.

Beer Spotlight – Traquair House Ale
Brewer – Traquair House
Dating back to 1107, Traquair was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. Later a refuge for Catholic priests in times of terror the Stuarts of Traquair supported Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobite cause without counting the cost.
TRAQUAIR House Ale
ABV 7.2% (Bottled)
The original ale first brewed in 1965 and now sold all over the world. Perhaps the most distinctive Scottish ale on the market and with its rich dark oakiness, this is a serious winter ale.
