NEW SCOTTISH BEERS AT THE HAVEN – SPRING 2018 no2

Here is the second exciting and enticing installment of our NEW BEER WEEK at The Haven. We are simply delighted to offer up some new Scottish Ales to the Boston public and take you on our journey of discovery of traditional and historic ales.
Harviestoun Engineer’s Reserve is a delicious Dark Ale with a supercharged taste and high abv to maintain all the flavour and pack a punch.
Based on the classic Engine Oil, this is a 9% version of their blackest ale,  an English Porter style beer brewed in Scotland by Harviestoun. Epic.

Heavily-scented chocolate aroma with loads of roast malt and dark fruit. An incredibly thick, creamy mouthfeel. Loads of chocolate flavours, some coffee and a sweet, fruity note to boot. There’s some alcohol in there (it is 9% abv after all!) but instead of being a separate element, it elegantly ties all the complex flavours together. This is Old Engine Oil turned up to 11 in every way.

NEW SCOTTISH BEERS AT THE HAVEN – SPRING 2018

Being the only Scottish Bar in Boston makes us very keen on getting you Scottish Beers whenever we can! This week sees not one but FOUR additions to the lovely Scottish Beer list and we want to tell you all about them, but one at a time…….
ON TAP: QUERCUS UBHAL : Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted Special Edition
Mixed-Fermentation Sour Beer 8.5% ABV
This is a sharp, blond beer with a superb fresh hop profile of Hersbrucker, Challenger and Styrian hops. The beer is then fermented with Thistly Cross cider yeast and aged in Ola Dubh barrels. An unique product which blurs the lines between beer and cider.

Let’s talk about Beer Number 2 tomorrow…..
